Three Mobile and the worst call centres known to man

three will make you do this

Today, I had the misfortune of spending 25 minutes on the phone trying to leave Three Mobile.

I wouldn’t normally post personal rants on this blog, but in this instance, I think there are some serious lessons that businesses can learn from the mismatch in Three’s brand message and the farcical experience of speaking to their doggedly persistent and dishonest call centre monkeys.

Ad fail – I cannot believe this is real!

Bender Method

I’m thinking about having a worst ad/best ad post every week.

But for now, this is just a pure worst ad, or  should I say, multiple worst ads.

A friend told me about this page and it took me a long time to decide whether it was real or a brilliant spoof.  Sadly it’s the former (but there’s still part of me that can’t believe it can be).

Check out the gratuitous (and surely unintended) innuendo from such products as The Spilldaddy, The Bender Ball (pictured) and The Floppy.  But best of all has to be the ShakeWeight – please, please watch this video.  It’s like a lesson in viral marketing but for all the wrong reasons!

My favourite World Cup ad

World Cup ad

I did a bit of a double-take when I saw this one on TV during the world cup semis.

Ignore Forlan, it’s the ad behind him that made me laugh.  Great advice, presumably from the South African government: “Arrive Alive”.  Well, I usually try to thanks.  Sadly, it’s not really in your hands in South Africa – they may as well use the strapline “try not to get shot”.  Click on the image to see it full-size.

Google TV – pass the remote

google tv

You may have heard about Google’s latest venture in its quest for world domination – Google TV.

If you haven’t, check out Google’s introduction.  It integrates the web and TV programmes on your television using an interface that looks suspiciously like the old Windows Media Centre.

It got me thinking about how home entertainment is going to look in the not-too-distant future.  Are we really going to gather round our all-singing all-dancing televisions to watch TV-on-demand and the best the web has to offer? Read the full article

Napier Wolf’s new website unveiled

Napier Wolf site screenshot
vclever are very pleased to announce the completion of the total redesign of Napier Wolf’s website.

We’ve helped the Napier Wolf Group to bring their companies under one roof at napierwolf.com and rebrand them as different divisions of one cohesive group.

The new website presents a professional and contemporary face of the company on the web, mixing bright bold brand colours with smart black gradient backgrounds.

Napier Wolf and ourselves are very pleased with the result, but we’d love to hear your feedback too.

Please take a look at the brand spanking new site at www.napierwolf.com.

Wet t-shirt competition

t-shirt design

Just kidding – it is about a t-shirt competition though!

Freelancer.com is holding a design-a-t-shirt competition and we thought we’d enter for a chance to win a few quid, but more importantly to win a ‘master designer’ title and generally showcase our design skills.

We love it (if we do say so ourselves!!) and we’ll be very upset if we don’t have this in the bag!

vclever blog is here!

It's here!

So, what’ll be on here, I hear you ask?

Well, I’ll be using this blog to show you what we’re currently working on, to update you on any interesting stories and developments here at vclever and within the industry, and to voice my opinion on anything from technology, digital marketing, web and graphic design, and advertising.

If that sounds a bit dull, it really won’t be!  As you know, we’ve got a pretty informal style here, so don’t expect me to gibber on about dry marketing or technological theories – I’ll try to stick to interesting things we’re up to, bizarre stories or cutting edge stuff.  I love gadgets (and digital gadgets/tools at that) so will mention them whenever I come across cool stuff that I think you should take a look at.

Welcome and hope you enjoy the posts to come…
